Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the HalalMapp mobile application, website at halalmapp.com, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by HalalMapp ("we," "us," or "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. By using HalalMapp, you represent that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

2. The Service

HalalMapp helps users discover halal restaurants, read and write reviews, save favorites, submit community halal reports, and access deals from participating businesses. Restaurant owners may claim listings and access business features through a paid subscription.

Important: Halal status information, including community reports and third-party data, is provided for informational purposes only. We do not guarantee the accuracy of halal certifications or restaurant practices. Always verify directly with the restaurant if you have specific dietary or religious requirements.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at halalmapp@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

4. User content

You may submit reviews, photos, halal reports, and other content ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content, but grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute it in connection with operating and promoting the Service.

You agree not to submit content that:

  • Is false, misleading, defamatory, or fraudulent
  • Infringes intellectual property or privacy rights of others
  • Is harassing, hateful, or obscene
  • Contains malware or attempts to disrupt the Service
  • Violates applicable laws or regulations

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Business accounts and subscriptions

Business features (such as claiming listings, creating deals, and accessing analytics) require an active subscription. Subscriptions are billed through:

  • Web: Stripe checkout at halalmapp.com
  • iOS: Apple App Store in-app purchases
  • Android: Google Play in-app purchases

Subscription fees, billing cycles, and renewal terms are displayed at the time of purchase. Payments processed through Apple or Google are subject to their respective terms and refund policies. Web payments processed through Stripe are subject to Stripe's terms.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through the platform where you purchased (App Store, Google Play, or your account settings for web). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods unless required by law or the applicable app store policy.

6. Deals and coupons

Deals and coupons are created by participating businesses. HalalMapp is not responsible for the fulfillment, quality, or availability of offers. Disputes regarding deals should be resolved directly with the restaurant.

7. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Scrape, crawl, or reverse engineer the Service without permission
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Create fake accounts or manipulate reviews or reports
  • Impersonate another person or business
  • Use automated means to access the Service except as we expressly permit

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, logos, software, and content (excluding User Content), is owned by HalalMapp and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our materials without written permission.

9. Third-party services and links

The Service integrates with third-party services (such as Google Maps, Supabase, Stripe, and app stores) and may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for third-party services or content.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT RESTAURANT INFORMATION (INCLUDING HALAL STATUS) IS ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HALALMAPP AND ITS AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HalalMapp from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason with notice where practicable. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be communicated through the Service or by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts located in Ontario, Canada, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
